Album Update #3

If you read my last post, it’s lucky for me that day 1 in the studio didn’t start until 4pm. It’s like they understand that musicians, travel, and managing their own itineraries doesn’t mix.

I woke up, the layout of the Airbnb much more clear in the daylight, and gathered my things to take to the shower. I then showered in one of the tiniest showers I’ve been in. I’m betting I looked like a giant question mark the way I had to angle myself to get under the shower head. But any water to bathe with was arguably better than none.

I’m not the tallest person you’ll meet, but I’m definitely on the taller side. My head hit the ceiling in both my bedroom and the shower so getting ready without putting grease prints (I keep my hair moisturized!) all around the home was tricky.

Once I felt I looked thoroughly Reverend Doctor, I walked in the 32 degree Boston weather to the grab something to eat at a greasy spoon right around the corner, had some bacon, eggs, and a side salad and began walking to the studio about 30 minutes away.

I arrived early, accidentally scared Mike, the owner of Plaid Dog. He was working on a fantastic project I do not know the name of and wasn’t sure if it was okay to inquire about. I plopped on the couch in their foyer, and took the photo in the last post you saw. I also took this one:

A few hours and a few texts later, Producer Carter arrived looking much better than when I had seen him last as he’d had some health things going on. We settled into the larger of Plaid Dog’s control rooms and waited for Daniel (bass) and Russ (drums) to arrive.

Another Sneak Peek at an upcoming song off the album. Daniel Yoong on Bass and Russ Sternglass on drums in the Plaid Dog Recording booth!

Day 1 was strictly live drums and bass guitar. Daniel and Russ work together quite a bit and locked into quite a few grooves for the different songs I have. It was exciting to hear them back to back.

Some of the projects also had hand percussion. Those were tracked live as well.

At the end of the day we had all 6 songs tracked. Including my single, “Woman Being” there will be 7 songs total.

Next time: Day 2!
